Role Description:




As a Senior Banner Data Conversion Technologist in Ellucian’s Professional Services Data Migration team, you will be responsible for technical consulting and data migration services delivery in support of the Banner products. This includes, but is not limited to, training client work teams on the technical structure of the applications for user support and troubleshooting efforts, mapping legacy data to Banner module tables and structures and supporting product implementation efforts. You will conduct detailed analysis and develop mapping specifications that are unique to each implementation, develop data migration programs using the Ellucian Data Migration Script Generator (Ctool) for each implementation, execute those programs for test and production loads, train client personnel on the migration process, the data migration tools, run the migration programs and provide best practices for error resolution. You will be called upon to address and evaluate new tools and techniques in support of data migration, and to provide custom data clean-up services. You will provide training, consulting, and implementation support engagements for the ERP solutions created by our organization including the development and maintenance of training materials and other collateral or artifacts needed to deliver our services.

When serving in the role of the Sr. Banner Data Conversion Technologist you will be tasked to develop a conversion strategy specific to the scope of a client project outlining the data to be migrated and a conversion timeline for each of the relevant Banner applications. You will provide data migration oversight services toward the delivery of the data migration activities, including, but not limited to, maintaining the Data Migration dashboard status; maintaining the Data Migration Plan; monitoring technical requests and conversion issues and referring those needing additional support to the primary project manager; conducting Data Migration Status (scrum) calls with the client Data Migration team; attending project management calls as needed.

Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

  • Expert knowledge of Banner product (ANY Banner product module experience - HR/SIS/ERP/AR-ETC.) database structure; specifically, General, Student and/or the Human Resources module.

  • Expertise with Internet Native Banner forms, Self-Service Banner modules, Job Submission development, table names and relationships, how to determine tables referenced by a form, Banner 9 admin pages, etc.

  • Strong Oracle SQL knowledge, PL/SQL programming skills, experience creating Functions and triggers, etc.

  • Knowledge of project planning tools, specifically Microsoft Project for Conversion Project Schedule Development

  • ERP Conversion experience including the creation of legacy system data extract files

  • Expertise with OS/platform level UNIX-flavored command-line structure, including use of SQLLDR.

  • Excellent client-facing skills; strong written and oral communication skills

  • Robust project leadership and governance expertise

  • Be able to travel as needed to support engagements (domestic and international)

  • Application Programming Interfaces (API) design knowledge

  • 3-6 years relevant experience
